Bruno Liljefors Digital is an initiative to establish an international digital research and image platform dedicated to Bruno Liljefors.
Today, information about Liljefors’ artistic legacy is scattered across museums, archives, private collections, and other institutions.
The project therefore aims to create a centralised, academically verified, and internationally accessible resource for researchers, museums, students, and the wider public.
The platform will bring together digital images of artworks, catalogue information, provenance records, exhibition histories, scholarly research, publications, and expert essays.
I The project is led by a newly established foundation that brings together experts on Bruno Liljefors from museums, universities, and other institutions.
This initiative is being built by volunteers, driven by a shared commitment to preserving, contextualising, and extending the legacy of Bruno Liljefors for new audiences.
Bruno Liljefors (1860–1939) was a pioneering Swedish artist, celebrated as one of the most influential wildlife painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His mastery of composition and keen observation of nature captured the raw beauty and complex dynamics of the animal world, setting a new standard for wildlife art. Liljefors is internationally renowned, and his work continues to be exhibited worldwide, including a major exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris in 2025, underscoring his lasting global significance.
In conjunction with this initiative, we will establish a Friends of Bruno Liljefors association, an information hub for collectors of his artwork and those interested in his extraordinary life and artistic legacy.
